| Glass mastering is the process of recording data to a glass disc coated
with a photosensitive material. |
| The glass master is then electroplated with nickel, a process called
electroforming. |
| The metal plate made of nickel is seperated from the glass and is called
the metal master or the father. |
| The father can be cut to size for direct use in the injection molder. It
can also serve as the template for a mother from which stampers are formed. Either the
father or the stamper is used to mold the CD's which is then ready to be used in the injection molding process. |
